About the position

The Assistant Controller position at Lydech in Hamptonville, NC, is a critical role that supports all aspects of accounting management within the Thermal Acoustical Solutions segment. This segment is dedicated to providing innovative engineered products aimed at noise and heat abatement in automotive and industrial markets. The Assistant Controller will work closely with the Controller for North America to ensure compliance with regulations and accounting guidelines, while also managing the Accounts Payable and Receivable teams. The role involves a comprehensive understanding of accounting functions, internal controls, and financial reporting, making it essential for the candidate to possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills. In this position, the Assistant Controller will participate in the preparation of financial statements and statistical reports, analyze operating results, and provide recommendations to plant leadership teams to enhance cost efficiency and profitability. The role also includes managing journal entries, assisting with budgets and forecasts, and ensuring the accurate classification of expenditures. The Assistant Controller will serve as a business partner to plant leadership, providing essential financial data to support decision-making processes. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, along with at least five years of experience in accounting and finance within a manufacturing environment. Supervisory experience of at least two years is also required. The Assistant Controller will lead, train, and mentor the accounts payable and receivable teams, ensuring that all financial objectives are met and that the organization adheres to its financial goals.

Responsibilities

  • Supports all aspects of accounting management and assists in the formulation of internal controls.
  • Manages journal entries and assists with budgets and forecasts.
  • Ensures compliance with regulations and accounting guidelines.
  • Leads the Accounts Payable and Receivable team for North America.
  • Participates in the preparation of statistics for financial statements and analyzes results to provide forecasts.
  • Interprets operating results and makes recommendations to plant leadership for cost reductions and profit improvement.
  • Prepares financial statements to summarize and forecast the company's financial status.
  • Analyzes future earnings and expenses.
  • Assists with management of accounting, auditing, and budgeting for North American locations.
  • Trains and mentors employees in the accounts payable and receivable groups.
  • Serves as a business partner to plant leadership teams, providing data needed to meet financial objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • Thorough understanding of all accounting functional areas.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • At least 5 years of experience in accounting and finance in a manufacturing environment.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory role.
  • Experience with ERP systems is required.
  • Experience in SOX 404 Compliance required.
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP required.
  • Working knowledge of US Federal income tax regulations, state taxation, and SEC reporting requirements desired.
  • Continuous improvement experience, particularly in Lean Enterprise, is a plus.
  • A CPA or CMA is preferred with 2-3 years of experience in public accounting and/or publicly held companies.
