The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in accounting, finance, or business administration, with a particular focus on higher education or not-for-profit accounting. The Assistant Controller must be detail-oriented, organized, and capable of meeting deadlines in a dynamic environment that may include frequent interruptions. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, as is a customer service orientation that prioritizes the needs of students and families. A Master's Degree or Certified Public Accounting designation is preferred, along with proficiency in MS Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the University's financial records accurately and timely.
  • Close the general ledger on schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • Four years of professional experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in higher education or not-for-profit accounting, including knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a customer service focus.
  • Detail-oriented and organized with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and Word.
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
