About the position

The Assistant Controller at Briefly will serve as a key leader in managing the financial and accounting operations of the organization, supporting the Director of Finance. This role involves overseeing daily accounting functions, managing financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations for a multinational law firm. The ideal candidate will possess strong GAAP knowledge, public accounting experience, and a proven track record in team management.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
• Assist with the semi-monthly payroll review for attorney compensation calculation.
• Ownership of financial close and assistance with consolidation.
• Prepare management reporting and analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and potential issues.
• Co-manage the implementation of a new accounting ERP system and facilitate automation of manual processes.
• Assist in the development and monitoring of budgets and forecasts.
• Coordinate and assist with internal and external audits to ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and standards.
• Implement internal controls and identify opportunities for process improvement.
• Assist with documentation of the accounting policies and procedures.
• Provide guidance and support to team members as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
• 10+ years in accounting with the most recent 3 years as an Assistant Controller.
• Experience in managing system implementations and automations.
• Experience in preparing management reporting package.
