About the position

The Assistant Controller position at Lawn Rangers is a critical role that ensures the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial information. This includes overseeing job costing activities for our landscape maintenance and installation operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing daily accounting operations, which encompass cash transactions, reconciliation, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who can maintain high standards of financial reporting and compliance with various regulatory requirements. In addition to daily operations, the Assistant Controller will respond to customer inquiries, providing excellent customer service and support. The role also involves assisting with weekly payroll processing and various human resource functions, ensuring that all employees are compensated accurately and on time. The Assistant Controller will prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations, which are essential for maintaining accurate financial records. The position also entails preparing financial reports and performing monthly financial analysis to identify trends and variances. This analysis is crucial for strategic decision-making and helps the company to understand its financial health. Furthermore, the Assistant Controller will be involved in the annual tax return preparation and must ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements. Responsibilities

  • Oversee and process daily accounting operations including cash transactions'/reconciliation, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and provide excellent customer services.
  • Assist with weekly payroll processing and human resource functions.
  • Prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports.
  • Perform monthly financial analysis to identify trends and variances.
  • Annual tax return preparation.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state and federal government reporting requirements.

Requirements

  • Proven work experience as an Assistant Controller, Senior Accountant, or similar role.
  • Working for a Landscape contractor is a plus.
  • Proficient with accounting/job costing systems (QuickBooks Online, Sage, etc.).
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office, specifically Excel.
