About the position

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join our accounting team in Folsom, CA. This is a full-time position with a salary range of $85,000 to $100,000 per year. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of our financial statements and records. This is a high-profile role that requires strong accounting knowledge and experience with corporate accounting practices. The Assistant Controller will play a crucial role in the financial health of the organization, overseeing the accounting team and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards. In this role, you will prepare and review financial statements and reports, including the general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. You will perform general ledger reconciliations and ensure compliance with IFRS and other relevant accounting standards. Additionally, you will assist in the preparation and review of the company's budget and financial plans, providing valuable insights to management. As a leader within the accounting team, you will oversee and manage the team, providing guidance and support as needed. You will develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with government regulations and corporate accounting practices. Your analytical skills will be essential as you analyze financial data and provide recommendations for cost savings and process improvements. Collaboration with other departments will be key to ensuring accurate and timely financial information is available to all stakeholders. You will also maintain relationships with external auditors and regulatory agencies, providing them with necessary financial information and ensuring that the company adheres to all policies and procedures. Confidentiality and adherence to company policies will be paramount in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review financial statements and reports, including the general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Perform general ledger reconciliations and ensure compliance with IFRS and other relevant accounting standards.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of the company's budget and financial plans.
  • Oversee and manage the accounting team, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with government regulations and corporate accounting practices.
  • Ensure accurate and timely payment of payroll and accounts payable.
  • Analyze financial data and provide recommendations for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external auditors and regulatory agencies.
  • Provide financial information to management and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in corporate accounting, including experience with double entry bookkeeping and general ledger reconciliation.
  • Strong knowledge of financial concepts and principles, including IFRS.
  • Proficiency in financial software and accounting systems, including experience with governmental accounting.
  • Experience with accounts payable and payroll processing.
  • Proven ability to analyze financial data and develop effective financial policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) is preferred.
