About the position

The Assistant Controller position is a critical role within our organization, working closely with the Corporate Controller to ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting. This position is responsible for producing and managing financial statements, analyzing earnings and expenses, and overseeing various accounting functions. The Assistant Controller will play a key role in managing the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring that all financial data is reported accurately and in a timely manner. This includes managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and the general ledger. In addition to these responsibilities, the Assistant Controller will be tasked with the design, implementation, and maintenance of internal controls over financial reporting. This is essential for safeguarding the organization's assets and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. The role also involves collaboration with various departments to develop and monitor budgets, as well as communication with external auditors to facilitate audits and ensure compliance with financial standards. The Assistant Controller will also be expected to streamline financial processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy. This may involve identifying areas for improvement and implementing best practices in financial management. Additionally, the Assistant Controller will assist with special projects as assigned, contributing to the overall financial strategy of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Produce and manage financial statements.
  • Analyze earnings and expenses.
  • Manage accounting functions including accounts payable and receivable.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Oversee the general ledger.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in data analysis, problem solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Fluent in reading, speaking, writing, and understanding the English language.
  • Must be 21 years of age and possess a valid driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience as a CPA.
