About the position

The Assistant Controller at Berkshire Hathaway Automotive is a key role responsible for processing and generating financial data across all dealership departments. This position ensures accurate financial reporting to the Controller and General Manager, while overseeing accounting office functions and maintaining compliance with dealership policies and internal controls. Responsibilities

  • Process and generate financial data for all dealership departments.
  • Provide accurate reporting to the Controller and General Manager.
  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Oversee accounting office personnel and manage the general ledger and financial statements.
  • Ensure adherence to dealership policies and internal control structures.
  • Proactively manage and safeguard company assets.
  • Manage expense structures and vendor relationships.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports for management.
  • Collaborate with management staff to review data and prepare necessary reports/analysis.
  • Analyze and organize office operations and procedures.
  • Prepare complete financial statements monthly according to dealership guidelines and manufacturer's format.
  • Control all posted documents, including time records, vehicle deals, commissions, and inventory changes.
  • Prepare daily bank deposits and cash reports.
  • Compile information and prepare reports as requested by the Controller and/or General Manager.

Requirements

  • Strong CDK DMS experience.
  • Two to four years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and enthusiastic presence in a team environment.
  • Ability to lead and influence others.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to problem solve and multi-task.
  • Experience in building strong teams.
  • Consistent and stable work history.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Professional appearance and work ethic.
