About the position

The Assistant Controller at Enclave plays a crucial role in supporting the Development and Corporate Service accounting operations. This position is responsible for assisting in the monthly financial close process, enhancing financial reporting, planning, and budgeting systems, and preparing periodic reports, tax, audit, and lender filings. The Assistant Controller collaborates with project teams to ensure timely and accurate financial information to support decision-making, while also managing and developing the accounting team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, coach, and develop accounting team members to ensure accurate and timely completion of responsibilities.
  • Help design and maintain effective internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Support the oversight of Development and Corporate Enterprise-related general ledger accounts, fixed assets, income statements, balance sheet components, and reconciliations.
  • Review and approve internal and external discrepancies, ensuring re-classifications or adjusting journal entries are made as necessary.
  • Collaborate on the monthly project draw process with Development Managers and accounting team, aiding in budget adjustments, change orders and ensuring discrepancies are addressed timely.
  • Ensure monthly, quarterly, and annual deadlines for Development and Enterprise-related accounting and financial reports are met.
  • Participate in the annual budgeting and forecasting process, specifically for Development and Enterprise-related revenue, expenses, and capital expenditures.
  • Prepare monthly variance analyses comparing actual results to budget.
  • Assist in managing cash flow and authorizing check runs as needed.
  • Contribute to improvement in business performance through cost control, monitoring, and reporting on profitability and cash flow.
  • Support project budgeting and forecasting for multiple projects, ensuring consistent application of financial policies and internal controls.
  • Assist in the yearly financial review process.
  • Prepare data for tax accountants to support timely annual tax return submissions.
  • Provide regular updates to executive leadership and management on topics including funding, schedules, contracts, and financial forecasts.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts in financial systems and processes.
  • Lead or assist with project-based process improvement initiatives.
  • Support compliance with monthly project standards.
  • Contribute to global cashflow projections.
  • Research new markets, assisting with business registration and tax compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • MBA, CMA or CPA certification preferred.
  • 3+ years of prior cost accounting and/or 8+ years progressive accounting experience preferred.
  • Prior managerial experience preferred.
  • Demonstrates accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Outstanding time management skills.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Ability to recognize classified data and maintain confidentiality.
  • Continuous improvement mindset and highly motivated to achieve goals.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
