About the position

The Assistant Controller at Saint-Gobain will play a crucial role in supporting financial management and accounting functions across multiple sites in North America. This position involves generating and analyzing financial reports, managing the monthly close process, and assisting in budgeting and forecasting. The Assistant Controller will also be responsible for maintaining internal controls, supporting audits, and ensuring compliance with regulations, all while contributing to the overall financial health of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Perform journal entries posting and balance sheet reconciliations during the monthly close process.
  • Conduct financial reporting and analysis to support decision-making, including profitability and cost management analysis.
  • Assist in creating budgets and financial forecasts based on historical data and future projections.
  • Maintain cost roll-up, work order reporting, and analysis, including absorption rates and machine hours.
  • Support inventory processes, including cycle counts, physical audits, and inventory account reconciliation.
  • Maintain a fixed asset roll forward schedule and lead fixed asset audits.
  • Assist in implementing and monitoring internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Gather and prepare documentation for audits and address auditor inquiries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field is required.
  • 5+ years of experience with cost accounting and financial analysis is required.
  • 3+ years of accounting/finance experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • 5+ years of experience with month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience with internal or external audits is preferred.
  • Knowledge of cost accounting principles is required.
  • High proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree is preferred.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems such as QAD or SAP for financial management is preferred.
