About the position

Jetta Operating Company is seeking an Assistant Controller to join their accounting team in downtown Fort Worth. This role is crucial for ensuring the integrity of financial reporting and internal controls. The Assistant Controller will report directly to the VP, Controller & Treasurer and will play a key role in evaluating operating results to assist in financial decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee preparation of quarterly consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules in accordance with GAAP.
  • Review and analyze monthly individual company financial statements.
  • Oversee month end closing process.
  • Prepare, review, and approve monthly journal entries.
  • Prepare/coordinate monthly analysis schedules for Controller and CFO.
  • Provide essential financial data to other groups within the organization.
  • Assist in the monthly JIB close process including: EnergyLink JIB uploads, JIB deck maintenance, and JIB expense related inquiries.
  • Process annual ad valorem bills for all counties.
  • Assist in 1099 annual process.
  • Analyze and create manual invoices and process through OpenInvoice.
  • Evaluate and streamline policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Participate in and manage all areas of year-end audit.
  • Support the VP, Controller & Treasurer in accounting matters of the organization.
  • Facilitate special projects, as required.
  • Supervise accounting staff as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
  • CPA license required.
  • 6+ years Oil and Gas industry experience required.
  • 5+ years' experience as Assistant Controller or similar role required.
  • 2 years supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and proven experience in financial reporting role.
  • Ability to work closely with all levels within the organization, including upper management.
  • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with strong Excel skills.

  • Knowledge of Excalibur accounting system.
  • Knowledge of OpenInvoice platform.
  • Knowledge of Alteryx Designer.
