About the position

The Assistant Coordinator of the Like Me Program at Lourdes University plays a vital role in supporting the Education Division Chair and the Coordinator of the Like Me Program. This position is designed to provide both academic and administrative support, ensuring that the program adheres to the policies and accreditation standards set forth by the Education Program of Lourdes University. As a part-time staff appointment, this role is grant-funded and contingent upon continued funding, emphasizing the importance of maintaining compliance and effective program management. In this position, the Assistant Coordinator will be responsible for promoting the integration of Lourdes University's mission within the Like Me program. This includes fostering ongoing communication with faculty, staff, students, and administration, as well as attending required meetings at the division, college, and university levels. The role also involves collaboration with community partner K-12 schools, working closely with the Education Division Chair and the Coordinator of the Like Me Program to enhance educational opportunities for K-12 students. This may include initiatives such as College Credit Plus, dual enrollment, in-services, and EdRising support. The Assistant Coordinator will assist in monitoring students' academic progress and ensuring compliance with assessment gates, while also managing the day-to-day operations of the Like Me program. Building and maintaining positive relationships with students of color interested in or participating in the program is crucial, as is the recruitment, mentoring, and advising of these students. The role also requires the implementation of a recruitment plan to attract students to the education program at Lourdes University, as well as organizing tutoring support through the Academic Success Center for all participants. Additionally, the Assistant Coordinator will participate in fundraising efforts for the program, support the assessment of the quality of the experience through data collection, and maintain accurate records related to field experiences and mentoring. Organizing monthly meetings for program participants and facilitating job interviews with partner schools are also key responsibilities. Overall, this position is integral to the success and growth of the Like Me Program, requiring a dedicated and proactive individual who is committed to educational equity and student success.

Responsibilities

  • Supports and promotes the integration of the Lourdes University mission within the Like Me program.
  • Supports ongoing communication with faculty, staff, students, and administration and regularly attends required meetings.
  • Assists in collaboration with community partner k-12 schools in consultation with the Education Division Chair and Coordinator of Like Me program.
  • Ensures academic integrity of the program by collaborating with partner k-12 schools to build educational opportunities for k-12 students.
  • Assists in monitoring students' academic progress and compliance with assessment gates.
  • Assists in day-to-day operations of the Like Me program.
  • Establishes and maintains positive relationships with students of color interested in or participating in the program; recruits, mentors, and advises all students in the program.
  • Implements a recruitment plan to attract students to the education program at Lourdes University.
  • Supports organization of tutoring support through the Academic Success Center for all participants.
  • Maintains positive relationships with partner schools and seeks to build additional partnerships with k-12 schools.
  • Participates and supports fundraising efforts for the program with Institutional Advancement.
  • Supports assessment of the quality of the experience through collection of data and information.
  • Keeps accurate records of all forms related to the field experience and mentoring.
  • Assists in organizing monthly meetings for participants in the program.
  • Supports implementation of a job interview for participants in the program with partner schools.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A valid driver's license with the ability and willingness to travel.
  • Demonstrated ability to self-manage time, activity, and spending, staying focused on accomplishment of objectives, and meet preset goals.
  • Proficient with system applications and online technology.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Desire to be actively involved with the campus community.
  • A high degree of personal integrity and professionalism.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field required, master's degree preferred.
  • Two+ years in a related educational position and/or higher education preferred.
  • Background in educational recruitment.
