About the position
The Assistant Cyber Security Coordinator is a technical role focused on supporting the daily administration of a department's cyber security program. This position involves monitoring networks to identify and mitigate security threats, as well as assisting in the development of processes and protocols to enhance data protection. The role operates under the supervision of a Cyber Security Coordinator or higher-level staff, contributing to the overall security posture of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the day-to-day administration of the cyber security program.
- Monitor network activities to identify and thwart security threats.
- Analyze security threats and assist in developing policies and protocols to prevent them.
- Support the collection and reporting of data related to network surveillance.
- Collaborate with higher-level staff to enhance the organization's cyber security measures.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Bachelor's degree in information technology or computer science, or an Associate's degree with two years of relevant experience.
- Possession of active Industry Standard Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, MTA Security, or SSCP, along with two years of relevant experience.
- Possession of advanced certifications like CISSP, CEH, or CISM is preferred.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in network administration or systems administration.
- Knowledge of computer networking and surveillance techniques.
- Familiarity with cyber security threats and mitigation strategies.
