The Harvard School of Dental Medicine is seeking applications for the position of Assistant Dean for Advanced Graduate Education. This is a full-time faculty appointment at the academic rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in the appropriate academic department based on the successful candidate's area of expertise. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.

  • Oversee all aspects of Advanced Graduate Education (AGE) at Harvard School of Dental Medicine.
  • Report directly to the Dean and work closely with the Associate Dean and Office of Dental Education (ODE).
  • Coordinate and collaborate with Advanced Graduate Program directors to grow the strategic direction of Advanced Graduate Education at HSDM.
  • Maintain high standards and compliance with required procedures and processes.
  • Attract and graduate high-quality trainees and researchers.
  • Provide general operational oversight and supportive services to Advanced Graduate Education programs.
  • Manage admissions, student affairs, and evaluation management.
  • Conduct course and curriculum review and reform.
  • Serve on committees and engage in preclinical and teaching responsibilities.
  • Participate in research and/or other administrative duties.
  • Must possess a DMD, DDS, PhD degree or equivalent advanced degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 8 years of leadership experience in a dental and/or healthcare environment, including experience managing a team.
  • Experience in innovative leadership, strategic planning, and management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Masters, doctorate/DMSc or similar additional degree strongly preferred.
  • Eligible for full dental licensure in Massachusetts.
  • Board certification in a dental specialty.
  • Experience with student affairs and grievance processes.
  • Strong understanding of dental residency programs in the United States.
  • Basic understanding or willingness to develop organizational processes and structure of the office of dental education.
  • Clinician scientist with experience in student and resident research programs.
