About the position

The Assistant Dean of Strategic Financial Management serves as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the University of Washington School of Nursing. This senior leadership position is responsible for the strategic oversight, management, and direction of all financial operations within the School. The Assistant Dean will work closely with the Dean, senior leadership, and key stakeholders to ensure the financial sustainability and growth of the School of Nursing, contributing to overall strategic planning and decision-making processes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive financial strategy that aligns with the School of Nursing's strategic goals and objectives.
  • Lead long-term financial planning and forecasting efforts to ensure financial stability and sustainability.
  • Advise the Dean and senior leadership on financial matters, including budgeting, resource allocation, and risk management.
  • Oversee the core business processes associated with planning, management, and accounting for the School's resources, including budget planning and development.
  • Ensure that budgetary processes and allocation of resources are transparent, inclusive, and aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Monitor financial performance and provide regular reports and analyses to the Dean and other stakeholders.
  • Responsible for all financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, and procurement.
  • Ensure compliance with university policies, internal and external audit programs, and state and federal regulations.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks, ensuring the School's financial health and sustainability.
  • Serve as a key member of the School's leadership team, contributing to strategic planning and decision-making.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field with strong emphasis on quantitative analysis.
  • 4-5 years of demonstrated experience with financial stewardship and leading strategic financial planning and management processes at an academic institution or complex large-scale organization, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

Nice-to-haves

  • Executive-level experience at the University of Washington, or similar complex organization.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in a large-scale academic institution or complex organization.
  • Proven experience in strategic financial planning, budgeting, and resource management.
  • Computer proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, pivot tables.
  • CPA or equivalent.
