About the position

The Assistant Dean of Students, Director of the Center for Inclusion at Manhattanville University plays a crucial role in fostering an inclusive and welcoming community for students. This position involves overseeing programs that support underrepresented students, managing staff, and ensuring the retention and success of all students through various initiatives. The Director will also engage in long-range planning and serve as a member of the Student Affairs leadership team, contributing to the overall student engagement strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Create a welcoming and supportive environment in the Center for Inclusion (CFI), monitoring student usage and feedback about CFI.
  • Provide vision and leadership to programs aimed at supporting the retention and success of underrepresented students, including the Manhattanville First Generation Program and the Manhattanville Achievement Program (MAP).
  • Regularly review and identify the identities of current Manhattanville students and ensure engagement and support programs address their needs.
  • Engage in long-range planning, program development, and trainings designed to address the needs of the University's diverse student body.
  • Oversee the Retention Alert Support program, working with University departments to gather information on students identified as exhibiting 'at risk' behaviors.
  • Assign students to case managers, ensuring appropriate actions are taken and documented.
  • Create and implement an ongoing assessment of the support programs.
  • Act as one of the University's Title IX investigators, attending and completing all required training.
  • Serve as a member of the Student Affairs Leadership Team, participating in University committees and supporting overall student engagement.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion work, and/or work in Higher Education with demonstrated leadership progression.
  • Ability to function in a highly diverse environment.
  • Commitment to issues of Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity, with advanced knowledge of these subjects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
