The Assistant Dean of the School of Transportation & Heavy Equipment at Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology plays a crucial role in providing operational leadership and support for the School, its personnel, students, programs, and services. Reporting directly to the Dean, the Assistant Dean is responsible for fostering a positive and collegial environment while assisting in the recruitment, onboarding, evaluation, and development of faculty and academic staff in alignment with the School's and institutional policies and strategic priorities. This position requires a proactive approach to the collaborative development and fulfillment of both short- and long-term strategic priorities for the School, ensuring that policies, procedures, and initiatives are effectively implemented to achieve these goals. In addition to leadership responsibilities, the Assistant Dean will support the ongoing analysis of current and emerging educational and workforce trends, ensuring that the School's offerings and services are aligned with these trends. The role involves providing operational support to various stakeholders, including students, faculty, and staff, while addressing emergent issues in a timely manner according to relevant policies and procedures. The Assistant Dean will also play a key role in supporting specialized and institutional accreditation initiatives, promoting academic innovation and excellence, and assisting in the preparation and updating of promotional materials and the School's website. Financial oversight is another critical aspect of this role, as the Assistant Dean will assist in the day-to-day monitoring and management of the School's budgets, facilities, and resources to ensure optimal utilization. The position also involves supporting student recruitment and retention efforts, maintaining robust relationships with alumni, industry, and community representatives, and ensuring safe work and learning environments. The Assistant Dean will represent the School and University in professional and community organizations, engage in collaborations with internal and external entities, and serve as an active member of the University's Academic Council and other committees as assigned. Overall, this position is integral to the success and advancement of the School of Transportation & Heavy Equipment and its stakeholders.
