About the position

The Assistant Department Manager (Tile) is responsible for training and developing Product Sales Specialists while ensuring customers receive exceptional service and product information. This role focuses on maintaining a positive shopping experience and compliance with company standards.

Responsibilities

  • Train and develop Product Sales Specialists.
  • Ensure customers receive exceptional service and product information.
  • Demonstrate compliance with safe lifting practices and standard operating procedures.
  • Drive and teach the company philosophy around the basic P's of retail.
  • Provide direction to product sales specialists for attentive customer service.
  • Complete product specialist certification courses.
  • Ensure proper merchandising, pricing, and organization of the department.
  • Communicate standard operating procedures to associates in a timely manner.
  • Complete forklift proficiency testing and certification.
  • Assist in processing merchandise to the showroom floor.
  • Validate product placement and pricing within the department.
  • Greet customers in a helpful and courteous manner.
  • Assist customers with product questions and selections.
  • Process customer transactions using the POS system.
  • Handle customer refunds and exchanges according to guidelines.
  • Present 'how-to' classes to customers.
  • Stock and tag merchandise displays as required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1 year of customer service/sales experience or equivalent education and experience.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
