About the position
The Assistant Diesel Mechanic will work at Terra Bella Nursery in San Diego, CA, assisting the Head Mechanic with the maintenance and repair of diesel trucks and agricultural equipment. This role is essential for ensuring the operational efficiency of the nursery's fleet and requires a basic understanding of mechanical systems.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Mechanic with regular maintenance and repair work on all diesel trucks and agricultural equipment.
- Diagnose and repair basic mechanical issues with trucks and equipment under the supervision of the Head Mechanic.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair work carried out.
- Help to order and maintain inventory of parts and supplies needed for maintenance and repairs.
- Learn and adhere to all safety procedures related to maintenance and repairs.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a mechanic preferred
- Basic knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
- Ability to work independently under the supervision of our Head Mechanic.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends and holidays.
