About the position

The Assistant Dining Operations Manager at Rock Eagle is responsible for overseeing food service management at the Rock Eagle Dining Hall. This role involves assisting the Dining Commons Manager and Food Operations Manager in planning, organizing, and directing food service personnel. The position requires flexible working hours, including evenings and weekends, and focuses on ensuring efficient operations and high-quality service in a large food service environment.

Responsibilities

  • Determine shift assignments based on work priorities, personnel, or overall operations.
  • Continuously monitor work areas, equipment, and safety procedures to protect employees, guests, and State resources.
  • Control and maintain inventories.
  • Communicate effectively with all employees and guests.
  • Requisition or request supplies and equipment as needed for events both on and off-site.
  • Supervise part-time and full-time workers, subordinate supervisors, and contract labor employees as delegated.
  • Assist in developing checklists, work assignments, and schedules for employees to carry out food service functions.
  • Manage and assist with various on and off-center events, delivering foods and supplies.
  • Interview new applicants, assign team member sponsors, and develop training programs for new and current staff.
  • Assist with additional duties as designated by a supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Considerable knowledge of institutional or commercial food service management procedures and practices.
  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements applicable to a large food service operation.
  • Ability to effectively supervise the work of others.
  • Ability to maintain a variety of operating and general records.
  • Ability to evaluate and analyze costs and personnel productivity.
  • Serve Safe certification obtained within one year.
