About the position

The Assistant Director of the Institutional Space Planning and Management (ISPM) unit at Michigan State University is responsible for overseeing capital project budget planning, approvals, and reporting. This role involves managing budget allocations for various accounts, organizing annual space and capital planning functions, and developing reports for ISPM operations. The position requires strong communication and leadership skills to coordinate with various stakeholders, including university administrators and external consultants.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee the development of capital project budget planning approvals and reporting.
  • Manage budget allocations for Provost reserve accounts, project plant accounts, and unit operational accounts.
  • Organize and administer annual space, alterations, and capital planning functions for the University.
  • Develop and analyze reports and database needs for ISPM operations and communication to external stakeholders.
  • Provide direction and leadership to ISPM staff and coordinate work with them.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Five to eight years of related and progressively more responsible work experience in budget development and administration.
  • Experience in reviewing, analyzing, and synthesizing data for budget scenarios and recommendations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
