About the position

The Assistant Director of Admissions and Financial Aid at the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law is responsible for developing and coordinating recruitment efforts for JD and LLM programs. This role involves strategic planning, communication with prospective students, collaboration with faculty and staff, and overseeing admissions activities. The Assistant Director will also engage in community outreach and manage various recruitment events, ensuring a comprehensive approach to attracting students to the law school.

Responsibilities

  • Developing, coordinating, and implementing strategic plans to recruit JD and LLM students.
  • Administering recruitment initiatives and programs, including establishing calendars and timelines for communications and events.
  • Effectively communicating information about all aspects of the College of Law's admissions process and programs through various methods.
  • Meeting individually with students, developing and delivering presentations, and giving tours of the law building.
  • Reviewing and recommending decisions on applications for admission to the JD program.
  • Acting as a liaison with the community and partners in facilitating the College of Law's recruitment plan.
  • Developing, planning, and facilitating workshops, meetings, recruitment events, webinars, and presentations.
  • Coordinating and attending external recruitment programs and events, including some travel.
  • Working closely with faculty, staff, and current students to meet recruitment goals.
  • Conducting applicant interviews and utilizing data to prepare administrative reports.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate (minimum qualification).
  • Experience working in a higher education environment, particularly in admissions or student experience roles.
  • Effective communication skills, including public speaking and presentation experience.
  • Demonstrated project management experience and organizational skills.
  • Experience in critical thinking and effective problem-solving skills.

  • Experience in counseling, advising, or mentorship.
  • Experience in networking and building effective working relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
