About the position

The position serves as the primary contact for several athletic programs at Army West Point Athletic Association Inc. (AWPAA), focusing on Men's Basketball and other sports. The role encompasses a variety of responsibilities including writing press releases, managing social media accounts, graphic design, and facilitating media relations, all aimed at enhancing the visibility and storytelling of cadet-athletes and the athletic programs at the United States Military Academy (USMA).

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary athletic communications liaison for designated sports, focusing on Men's Basketball.
• Develop and compose research notes, game recaps, and feature articles to enhance media engagement.
• Provide guidance and direction to coaches, staff, and cadet-athletes on Public Affairs Office policies and public relations strategies.
• Create and produce a variety of publications, including game programs, flip cards, and media guides.
• Assist in the coordination and execution of the department's social media strategy.
• Manage social media accounts for designated teams, ensuring comprehensive coverage of pregame, in-game, and postgame activities.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with local, regional, and national media representatives.
• Conduct interviews and facilitate communication opportunities to enhance media coverage.
• Oversee postgame and press conferences for assigned sports programs.
• Collaborate with the Assistant Athletics Director, Creative Services to develop graphic design projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• Experience in sports information or public relations.
