About the position

The Assistant Director of Building Operations (MEP) at New Orleans Public Facility Management, Inc. is responsible for overseeing the strategic and operational management of facility maintenance, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and managing capital improvement projects. This role involves collaboration with the Director of Facility Management to enhance operational efficiency, enforce safety protocols, and maintain high standards for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems. The position also includes budget development, project management, and supervision of personnel to foster a productive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Director of Facility Management to establish maintenance tasks and performance standards.
  • Oversee daily operations and conduct regular facility inspections to identify safety hazards and necessary repairs.
  • Coordinate equipment repairs and capital projects with other departments to minimize disruption.
  • Develop and enforce safety protocols related to MEP systems.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes and industry regulations.
  • Maintain MEP systems to minimize downtime and extend system life.
  • Implement preventive maintenance programs aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Manage projects with external contractors and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Assist in the development of departmental rules and regulations to improve customer service.
  • Support the preparation of the annual budget for the MEP Division and monitor expenditures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Facility Management, Project Management, or a related field.
  • A minimum of three years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Experience in managing large-scale multi-trade maintenance operations.
  • Certifications such as Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) are preferred.
  • Experience in a convention or large multi-purpose facility is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Relevant technical certifications (e.g., HVAC, electrical systems) are a plus.
  • Experience in coordinating capital improvement projects.
