About the position

The University of South Alabama's Office of Community Engagement is seeking to hire an Assistant Director Campus and Community Engagement. Interested candidates should apply to be considered. This position is responsible for promoting inclusion among the student body and supporting community engagement with both internal and external communities. The Assistant Director will assist the Vice President of Diversity and Community Engagement and lead the Office of Community Engagement to build community, create opportunities, and enrich the student experience.

Responsibilities

  • Promote inclusion among the student body and support community engagement with internal and external communities.
  • Assist the Vice President of Diversity and Community Engagement and lead the Office of Community Engagement.
  • Manage the administrative operations of South Serves and campus-wide collaborative service projects.
  • Oversee the office budget and manage overall operations.
  • Advise and evaluate the Community Engagement Advisory Board.
  • Develop and foster internal campus connections to increase student engagement in service activities.
  • Establish and maintain external community partnerships for public service and volunteerism.
  • Conduct annual needs assessments to determine service strategies.
  • Develop a vision for Campus and Community Engagement.
  • Document processes and projects for sustainability of engagement efforts.
  • Plan marketing approaches to increase student engagement.
  • Strategize to continue high school community service into college service.
  • Assess community needs to support enrollment and engagement through South Serves.
  • Prepare annual reports, memorandums, letters, and departmental policies.
  • Identify funding opportunities to support inclusion and engagement initiatives.
  • Contribute to strategic outcomes and visioning of the division.
  • Raise awareness of South Serves among students, faculty, staff, and community partners.
  • Identify and develop tools for community and campus-based inclusion and service opportunities.
  • Provide support for the Employee Community Volunteer Program.
  • Supervise student workers and appropriate staff.
  • Schedule and attend appointments, meetings, interviews, and evaluations.
  • Contribute to communications on the office website and social media.
  • Coordinate special events and initiatives as needed.
  • Maintain regular and prompt attendance.
  • Perform related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama.
  • Three years of related professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
