The Assistant Director-Chief Financial Officer for Veterinary Clinical Sciences and the Veterinary Teaching Hospital at Washington State University is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing all administrative functions within the department. This includes finance, payroll, purchasing, procurement, and property management. The Veterinary Clinical Sciences (VCS) department is the largest within WSU's College of Veterinary Medicine, comprising a diverse team of 66 faculty and 18 support staff, and managing an operational budget exceeding $16 million. The department is dedicated to teaching, clinical service, and research, and it also includes specialized programs such as the Simulation-Based Education program and the Seattle-based One Health Clinic. The Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) serves as the primary educational facility for fourth-year veterinary students and provides training for over 70 specialty interns and residents. With a client base of nearly 20,000 animals and a service center revenue of over $16 million, the VTH plays a crucial role in the educational and service missions of the organization. The hospital employs nearly 40 full-time faculty, 44 licensed veterinary technicians, and over 150 temporary staff, contributing to a total operating budget of nearly $20 million. In this role, the Assistant Director-CFO will be responsible for developing, planning, directing, coordinating, and evaluating the administrative and financial functions of both the VCS and VTH. This position requires collaboration with the VCS Department Chair, the VTH Chief Medical Officer, and the VTH Chief Operations Officer to formulate and communicate policies and best practices. The Assistant Director will also have advisory, budgetary, managerial, and supervisory responsibilities, making independent decisions regarding the daily operations of the units. This role is essential for ensuring the financial health and operational efficiency of the department and hospital, ultimately supporting the educational mission of WSU's College of Veterinary Medicine.
