About the position

The Assistant Director of Community Partnerships and Public Art is responsible for providing essential project management, administrative, and research support to the department. This role focuses on linking resources managed by Battery Park City Authority to local constituents and visitors through public engagement and artistic initiatives, supporting the integration of the creative community within the neighborhood and the city's urban fabric.

Responsibilities

  • Provide project management and administrative support for community partnerships and public art initiatives.
  • Assist in the stewardship of BPCA's public art collection, including documentation and procurement processes.
  • Prepare and facilitate engaging art talks for visitors about public art in the park.
  • Support partnerships and public engagement with community organizations, including museums and schools.
  • Conduct research, procurement, and payment processing under deadlines for community engagement activities.
  • Attend, document, and participate in meetings with artists and community members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (preferred)
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Demonstrated interest in serving the public
  • Knowledge of contemporary art and public art is a plus
  • Current driver's license is a plus

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in proofreading
  • Familiarity with Mailchimp and Eventbrite
