About the position

The Assistant Director of Credit Operations at NCMIC Finance Corporation plays a crucial role in supporting leadership in the management and development of underwriting and service operations. This position is accountable for driving profitable growth by fostering inter-department relationships, maintaining portfolio quality, managing risk, and ensuring overall profitability. The Assistant Director will assist the Director/VP Credit Manager in executing corporate and departmental strategic and operational plans, while also contributing to the development and implementation of new processes and improvements to existing ones.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite in accordance with underwriting guidelines and within written levels of lending authority to ensure profitability.
• Ensure underwriting team members understand and adhere to guidelines.
• Lead the credit team by resolving issues, handling complex underwriting decisions, and improving processes and procedures.
• Assist with department projects to meet line of business and corporate objectives.
• Participate in team assignments, discussions, and the implementation of strategic objectives.
• Assist with interviewing prospective employees and onboarding new hires.
• Monitor new underwriter training to ensure quality and timely training.
• Provide input for annual performance reviews and quarterly coaching of underwriting team members.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in finance or a related field.
• Five or more years of underwriting/credit analyst experience, preferably in commercial underwriting.
• Strong understanding of underwriting concepts, risk management, and profitability.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to plan, organize, and maintain a high degree of accuracy under deadlines.
