About the position

The Assistant Director, Digital Marketing at NYU's University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR) plays a vital role in enhancing online fundraising efforts and leading digital initiatives to support the university's philanthropic engagement. This position involves managing digital email campaigns, audience segmentation, and donor engagement across various platforms, while also serving as the operational point person for the email marketing platform, Marketo. The role supports the execution of key fundraising events and initiatives, contributing to the overall mission of raising funds for the university's critical operations.

Responsibilities

  • Grow online fundraising efforts and lead Annual Giving digital initiatives.
  • Build and manage digital email campaigns and complex audience segmentation.
  • Engage donors through various digital platforms.
  • Serve as the operational point person for Marketo, the email marketing platform.
  • Support the management and execution of NYU's crowdfunding platform, Rising Violets.
  • Collaborate with leadership on digital strategies for Giving Day and Giving Tuesday.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • 3+ years of related experience in digital direct response, marketing, and content management.
  • Knowledge of digital fundraising and email best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with various staff partners.
  • Attention to detail for content and data accuracy.
  • Highly organized with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Experience in writing and developing content.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5+ years of experience in an academic, non-profit, or development environment.
  • Familiarity with fundraising databases such as Advance and Blackbaud.
  • Proven record of increasing revenue through digital channels.
  • Experience in graphic design.
  • Demonstrated ability to train others in technical aspects of digital tools and platforms.
