About the position

The Assistant Director of Equity, Civil Rights, and Title IX at the University of Michigan-Flint plays a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of the ECRT Office. This position is responsible for investigating allegations of discrimination and harassment involving students, faculty, and staff, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and policies. The Assistant Director collaborates with various campus partners to promote a diverse and inclusive environment and assists in the development of training programs and compliance reports.

Responsibilities

  • Review, investigate and document allegations and charges of discrimination and harassment from students, faculty, and staff.
  • Provide department climate reviews related to discrimination and harassment concerns in conjunction with Human Resources.
  • Consult on ADA concerns or complaints for the campus.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources on recruitment processes to facilitate diverse candidate pools.
  • Investigate and report findings related to sexual harassment and discrimination complaints.
  • Act as an impartial party during investigations and prepare detailed reports of findings.
  • Monitor compliance with federal and state regulations and prepare required reports.
  • Deliver campus-wide educational programming and training on equity and inclusiveness.
  • Provide consultation on institutional equity and diversity issues to senior leadership.
  • Act as a proxy for the Director in their absence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study.
  • Five or more years of experience conducting investigations related to sexual harassment and discrimination.
  • Knowledge of federal and state non-discrimination laws, including Title IX and ADA.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant software for report writing and training presentations.
  • Experience conducting training and identifying resources for students, faculty, and staff.
