About the position

The Assistant Director for Communication & Marketing at the University of Colorado Boulder is a leadership role within the Student Affairs Communication and Marketing team. This position is responsible for overseeing communication strategies and project management across various departmental and division-level campaigns. The role involves content creation and design for multiple platforms, including print, email, web, digital, and social media, while also supporting departments in the Division of Student Affairs to meet their communication needs. The Assistant Director will manage professional staff and student employees, providing direction and development to align with the division's mission and vision.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a communication plan and strategy for core areas to support the Division of Student Affairs.
  • Execute communication campaigns to meet division and department goals, including articles, email, print, web, and digital engagement.
  • Create and implement multi-platform marketing and communication plans for diverse audiences.
  • Ensure coordination of media platforms with larger Division campaigns.
  • Manage communication plans to ensure projects are completed on time and on budget.
  • Collaborate with division leadership on emergency response communications.
  • Provide on-call support for division emergency and crisis communication needs.
  • Supervise a team of professional and student staff, including recruitment, hiring, training, and evaluation.
  • Foster teamwork and creative collaboration among department members.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Student Affairs departments and campus partners to assess needs and develop materials.
  • Review and assess data to improve communications and increase engagement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience managing communication campaigns or creative projects in a marketing/communication environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, layout, and design skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, public speaking, writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Highly developed skills in facilitating collaborative work among communication specialists.
