The University of Southern Mississippi is seeking an Assistant Director for Institutional Research, System Analyst to join its Institutional Research Office. This full-time position is located in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and is responsible for preparing, developing, and analyzing statistical data related to students, faculty, and university matters from both internal and external sources. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in reporting statistical data to various stakeholders, including the Board of Trustees for Institutions of Higher Learning for the State of Mississippi and the Federal Government's Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS). Additionally, the role involves contributing to the maintenance of faculty and student data warehouses, ensuring data accuracy, and responding to routine requests for information. In this position, the Assistant Director will perform data analysis for internal and external clients using university data, create ad hoc reports and queries upon request, and verify data submitted electronically. The candidate will also serve as the primary tester for development changes or upgrades to HelioCampus dashboards and coordinate regular training sessions for these dashboards. Furthermore, the Assistant Director will support the Director for Institutional Research in handling requests for information and will be responsible for maintaining and updating nightly scheduled processes in Peoplesoft. The ideal candidate will possess a meticulous attention to detail and accuracy, technical proficiency, and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. This role requires a Bachelor's degree in data science, computer programming, or a related field, along with three to five years of relevant experience. Preferred qualifications include proficiency in Microsoft Access, SQL, PeopleSoft, and Tableau, as well as demonstrated experience in data quality control and report creation.
