About the position

The Assistant Director for Internal Operations at the University of Chicago will oversee event operations for varsity athletics and manage NCAA and Conference compliance responsibilities. This role involves coordinating logistics for varsity events, serving as tournament director for select events, and assisting with various compliance and operational tasks within the athletic department. The position aims to provide comprehensive experience and responsibilities to facilitate career advancement within the department.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily responsibilities for NCAA Compliance.
  • Manage logistics for event operations of varsity teams and varsity-related events.
  • Provide game management oversight with event-day onsite responsibilities.
  • Hire and assign student workers for home games and manage student worker payroll.
  • Assist with the initial eligibility process for incoming international student-athletes.
  • Assist with roster management and maintaining databases.
  • Assist with compliance rules education for coaches, staff, and student-athletes.
  • Monitor on-campus official and unofficial recruiting visits.
  • Assist with the preparations of various reports, waivers, and appeals to appropriate governing bodies within the NCAA and UAA.
  • Administer and monitor progress for the annual coaches certification exam.
  • Lead marketing and promotion of contests.
  • Provide leadership and on-site coordination as designated tournament director for conference and NCAA hosted events.
  • Compile data/information for projects assigned by the Director of Athletics and Recreation.
  • Train office staff on office procedures and compliance protocols.
  • Research and analyze data to create reports.

Requirements

  • A college or university degree in a related field.
  • 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in event management or operations within an athletic department.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
