About the position

The Assistant Director for Management & Administration at the Department of Justice's Office of International Affairs (OIA) plays a crucial role in overseeing the management and administrative functions of the office. This position involves implementing office-wide strategies, leading process improvement initiatives, and providing guidance on human capital strategies. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in high-level administration and will be responsible for enhancing organizational effectiveness and efficiency while fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a senior advisor for the implementation of organizational change efforts.
  • Direct Lean Six Sigma-based process improvement efforts to increase productivity and eliminate inefficiencies.
  • Analyze the potential effects of new legislation and develop plans for effective office operations.
  • Provide advice and counsel to the Director and Deputy Directors on human capital strategy and hiring efforts.
  • Establish and lead data analytics efforts to produce performance metrics tools for decision-making.
  • Supervise the OIA Docketing Unit and manage all related processes.
  • Oversee the preparation of programmatic and administrative budgets and resource allocations.
  • Maintain liaison with senior officials regarding various administrative functions.
  • Mentor and develop first line supervisors and support staff to build a strong team.
  • Draft and revise talking points for senior leadership and represent OIA in various initiatives.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must undergo a pre-employment security investigation.
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level, including evaluating and updating administrative processes and overseeing human resources activities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work with senior executives and government officials.
