About the position

The Assistant Director for Research and Scholarly Activity at Rocky Vista University (RVU) in Billings, MT, is responsible for providing leadership and support for research initiatives on the Montana campus. This role involves mentoring students and employees, managing research resources, overseeing budget planning, and ensuring compliance with accreditation processes. The Assistant Director will collaborate closely with the Vice Provost for Research and Scholarly Activity and play a key role in fostering a culture of research excellence within the university.

Responsibilities

  • Provide local leadership and support for research and scholarly activities on the RVU-Montana campus.
  • Mentor and train students and employees in research practices.
  • Manage the wet lab resources, including equipment training and maintenance.
  • Oversee budget planning and management for research activities.
  • Participate in strategic planning and implementation for research initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation processes and reporting requirements.
  • Communicate proactively with the Vice Provost regarding compliance and research activities.
  • Lead and manage RSA events such as Research Week and poster competitions.
  • Provide training to students on initiating research projects.
  • Maintain personal research interests and contribute to teaching efforts.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree (PhD) in a scientific discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Proven track record of research and scholarly activity.
  • Experience in mentoring students and employees.
  • Strong writing and communication skills in English.
  • Experience in supervising and leading research initiatives.
