About the position

The Assistant Director of Health Care Administration for Pediatrics at the University of Florida is responsible for overseeing the financial and administrative operations of the Pediatrics department. This role involves managing budgets, coordinating human resources functions, and providing advanced administrative support to the Division Chief and Department Director. The Assistant Director will also supervise administrative staff, ensure compliance with university policies, and facilitate effective communication within the department.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction, coordination, and administration of financial budgets and cost analyses.
  • Review operating expenses and capital purchases, preparing projected annual budgets with the Division Chief and Department Director.
  • Manage human resource functions including faculty recruitment and onboarding of administrative staff.
  • Coordinate office operations and ensure appropriate coverage during staff absences.
  • Supervise administrative support staff and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Monitor faculty leave and payroll approvals, ensuring compliance with university policies.
  • Perform financial analyses and present budget variance reports to division chiefs and the Director.
  • Coordinate special projects and administrative issues within the department.
  • Develop and analyze reports for fiscal and budget-related activities.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with People Soft, Enterprise Reporting, and budgeting tools.
  • Knowledge of administrative rules, regulations, and procedures related to HR and fiscal spending.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret financial data.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with the myUFL system.
  • Familiarity with EPIC scheduling and billing systems.
  • Knowledge of grants and clinical environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
