About the position

Rider University is seeking an Assistant Director of Housing Operations to join its leadership team, responsible for overseeing a comprehensive Residence Life program that accommodates approximately 2,400 beds across more than a dozen residential facilities. This position is pivotal in managing various operational aspects, including occupancy management, room and board assignments, room selection, damage billing, strategic marketing, facilities maintenance, and systems management. The Assistant Director will also provide collaborative leadership for fraternity and sorority housing on campus and will be part of the campus-wide on-call team for emergency response situations. This is a live on-campus position, which includes a furnished apartment and a full meal plan, emphasizing the university's commitment to providing a supportive living environment for its staff. The role requires a proactive approach to managing multiple priorities and tasks, ensuring that the housing operations run smoothly and efficiently. The Assistant Director will engage with students, staff, parents, and university partners, providing direct service and support. This position is essential for fostering a vibrant and inclusive living and learning community that embraces diversity and promotes student success. The Assistant Director will also be expected to demonstrate strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and possess the ability to present information effectively to various audiences. Flexibility in work schedule is necessary to meet the demands of the role, which may include responding to emergencies and other unforeseen circumstances.

Responsibilities

  • Manage occupancy and room assignments for residential facilities.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in a relevant field.
  • Three to five years of full-time Residence Life experience.
  • Proficiency in student information systems and electronic productivity tools.
  • Strong math and computational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated intercultural competency and experience supporting diverse student backgrounds.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities.
  • Flexibility with work schedule.
