About the position

The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) School of Pharmacy is seeking an Assistant Director of Admissions to join the Deans Administration within the Office of Student Affairs. This full-time position is pivotal in achieving the academic program's enrollment goals through data-driven recruitment practices. The Assistant Director will report directly to the Associate Dean of Student Affairs and will work closely with the Director of PharmD Admissions, serving as a key representative of the University in recruiting students and managing communications with external stakeholders. The role involves developing and implementing a comprehensive recruitment and admissions plan that includes targeted advertising, travel, campus visits, and managing admissions for the Doctor of Pharmacy Degree program. The Assistant Director will engage with diverse groups within the university to support the creation of a robust communication plan focused on recruitment. A successful candidate will have a proven track record in higher education recruitment, demonstrating creativity, flexibility, and attention to detail in their approach. In addition to recruitment responsibilities, the Assistant Director will assist in establishing strategic partnerships with high schools and universities to enhance enrollment opportunities. This includes creating awareness about the University and its programs, managing the admissions process, and ensuring that the incoming class meets desired quality and diversity standards. The position requires significant travel (greater than 50% of the time) for recruitment and professional development activities, necessitating personal transportation and flexibility to work evenings and weekends. The role also includes physical demands, such as the ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in establishing new strategic partnerships with high schools and universities to increase enrollment.
  • Recruit students by creating awareness about the University, its programs, and scholarship opportunities.
  • Participate and represent the school at national, regional, and local recruiting events.
  • Manage the admissions and recruiting process to ensure the incoming class is of desired quality and demographic diversity.
  • Plan applicant outreach and recruiting activities such as summer internships and camps.
  • Coordinate campus visits, interviews, or events for top candidates.
  • Engage prospective students and ensure they are informed of recruitment and pre-admission activities.
  • Recommend enhancements to the admission process from inquiry through orientation.
  • Guide new students to financial aid and other student services resources.
  • Serve as a contact for international students.
  • Create statistical reports and provide analytical data to assist with recruitment and enrollment strategies.
  • Maintain daily tracking of prospective students and applicants.
  • Assess recruitment activities and document their outcomes.
  • Collaborate with leadership to implement a comprehensive recruitment and admissions plan.
  • Recommend improvements to engagement/recruitment strategies and policies.
  • Maintain communication with prospective students to encourage application completion.
  • Assist in developing and executing enrollment management strategies.
  • Analyze target audiences and develop marketing strategies to attract potential students.
  • Participate in open houses and present to various constituents.
  • Review and analyze reports for trends and target improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Two years of experience in admissions, student enrollment, or a related field.
  • Prior experience in higher education preferred.
  • Demonstrable experience in recruitment, admissions, or student services is preferred.
  • Experience utilizing social media for recruitment is preferred.
