About the position

The Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement, Virtual Programs is responsible for developing and managing engaging online experiences for the University of Iowa Alumni and Friends. This role focuses on creating and implementing virtual events and programs to enhance engagement and foster connections among participants, utilizing strong digital communication skills and event planning expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Design, plan, and execute virtual year-round events such as webinars, workshops, and social gatherings.
  • Coordinate with speakers and stakeholders to ensure smooth event delivery.
  • Manage event logistics, including platform setup and registration.
  • Oversee established writing contests and community engagement initiatives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with participants to ensure a positive virtual experience.
  • Implement strategies to increase participation and engagement within virtual communities.
  • Oversee the use of virtual engagement platforms and tools.
  • Track and analyze engagement metrics to assess the effectiveness of virtual initiatives.
  • Prepare reports on engagement trends and participant feedback.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align virtual engagement efforts with organizational goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any major.
  • 1 year of related experience, preferably in alumni engagement, development, or higher education.
  • Strong digital communication skills.
  • Event planning experience.

  • Knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in virtual engagement.
