About the position

The Assistant Director of Athletic Communications at Alfred University is a full-time role focused on enhancing the messaging, branding, and celebration of the university's athletic programs. This position is integral to the promotion of student-athletes, coaches, and the athletic department through various digital platforms and game day operations, supporting a department that sponsors 27 sports and approximately 600 student-athletes.

Responsibilities

• Handle day-to-day media relations and event coverage.
• Manage game day statistics and prepare news releases.
• Write articles related to assigned sports.
• Design and produce digital game day programs.
• Create video content and graphics for the athletic website and social media channels.
• Design recruiting materials and related digital graphics.
• Nominate individual student-athletes for awards and post-season honors.
• Develop and implement live video production and direct live streamed events.
• Create audio and visual content for videoboards.
• Ensure correct usage of Alfred University Athletic brands, marks, and logos.
• Assist in the maintenance of the Athletics Department website.
• Supervise and evaluate athletic communications graduate assistants, student workers, and game-day workers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in communications, sports management, or a related field.
• Experience in athletic communications or a similar role.
• Strong writing and editing skills.
• Proficiency in digital media production and graphic design.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with live video production and streaming.
• Familiarity with social media management and content creation.
• Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
