About the position

The Assistant Director of Athletics Communications assists with implementing media and public relations services for the Campbell University Department of Athletics and its 21 NCAA Division I varsity sports. This role also involves assisting in the marketing, recruiting, and operational efforts of the department.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as primary sport contact for assigned sports throughout the year.
  • Handles day-to-day publicity and social media for assigned sports.
  • Creates graphics for distribution through sport social media outlets.
  • Writes news releases and maintains department web site and social media accounts.
  • Analyzes performance of various outreach through social media and website.
  • Operates various computer statistical programs.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
  • Performs other duties, responsibilities, and activities assigned by supervisor, Senior Associate Athletics Director, or Athletics Director.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college, preferably in a communications field.
  • Two or more years of experience preferred.
  • Comprehensive computer knowledge and skills, including Adobe Suite, is required.
  • Experience in a higher education or non-profit sector is also preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree is preferred.
  • Video and/or photography skills recommended.
