About the position

The Assistant Director of Athletic Communications at CSU Fullerton Auxiliary Services is responsible for managing the dissemination of information related to specific sports within the intercollegiate athletics program. This role involves serving as a media liaison, developing media relations materials, and enhancing the visibility of the athletic department through effective communication strategies, including social media and website management.

Responsibilities

• Administers the dissemination of information regarding men's basketball, men's water polo, cross country, and track & field programs.
• Provides media relations materials and serves as media liaison for designated programs.
• Responsible for design and maintenance of editorial and graphic content on athletics website using HTML, Dreamweaver, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator.
• Provides direction for staff and plans coverage at all intercollegiate home events for designated programs.
• Manages communications to the external community through social media, including publicity for teams, promotion of events, and ticket sales.
• Coordinates and oversees Athletic Department public relations needs.
• Assists in developing a communications plan to increase visibility and brand for the Athletic Department and the University.
• Assists in the continued development of desktop publishing's technical capability and internet publicity.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum two (2) years of related professional or technical experience.
• Strong writing and editing experience, including social media, website content, and print.
• Proficiency in MS Office and desktop publishing skills, including graphics content.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
