About the position

The Assistant Director of Athletics Compliance at Houston Christian University is responsible for supporting the head coach in recruiting and mentoring student-athletes, ensuring compliance with NCAA regulations, and managing various administrative tasks. This role emphasizes character development, academic support, and adherence to compliance standards within the athletic department.

Responsibilities

  • Assist head coach with recruiting and teaching skills to student-athletes.
  • Mentor athletes in academic and personal character development.
  • Proactively monitor and educate athletic department personnel on NCAA compliance.
  • Analyze and evaluate prospective student-athlete eligibility and transfer eligibility.
  • Utilize NCAA platforms for record keeping and monitoring.
  • Identify potential APR issues and provide solutions.
  • Oversee financial literacy training for first-year student-athletes.
  • Serve as the main contact for Spry compliance software.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Master's Degree preferred in sports management, law, business, or education.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong knowledge of NCAA and Southland Conference rules.
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
