About the position

The Assistant Director/Associate Director of Athletic Medicine for Men's and Women's Cross Country/Track & Field at Baylor University is responsible for the medical care and rehabilitation programs for student-athletes. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure the health and performance of athletes, while adhering to NCAA and institutional regulations. The position requires a Master's degree and significant experience in athletic training, with a focus on providing comprehensive medical support during practices and competitions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical care to student-athletes at practice, training, and competition events.
  • Utilize injury prevention strategies to minimize time loss from school and sport.
  • Administer treatment under the supervision of the Director of Athletic Medicine and Team Physician.
  • Maintain communication with student-athletes, parents, coaches, team physicians, and administration regarding the progress of student-athletes.
  • Maintain proper documentation as necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the health and wellness team and academic support services.
  • Assist in the maintenance and proper use of athletic training facilities.
  • Assist with the education and oversight of Master of Athletic Training Students.
  • Provide education to student-athletes, coaches, support staff, administrators, and parents.
  • Maintain knowledge of and adherence to NCAA, Big 12 Conference, and institution rules and regulations.
  • Communicate any possible infractions of rules to the Athletics Compliance staff.
  • Perform other program duties as requested by the Director of Athletics.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Athletic Training or related field.
  • 5-8 years of relevant work experience in athletic training.
  • National Athletic Training Certification required.
  • Texas Athletic Training License (can be obtained after employment offer).
  • Authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
