Knox College is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to join our team as the Assistant Director of Athletics for Communications and Marketing. This leadership role is integral to promoting our athletic programs, enhancing the visibility of our student-athletes, and maintaining strong relationships with media and the community. As the Assistant Director of Athletics for Communications and Marketing, you will be a key player in fostering student-athlete success and well-being while building a competitive NCAA Division III program. This is a 12-month, benefits-eligible position reporting to the Director of Athletics and the VP of Communications. Anticipated start date is July 2024. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining positive relationships with local, regional, and national media outlets, serving as the primary contact for all media inquiries related to athletics. You will also be tasked with writing and distributing press releases, game recaps, and feature stories, while managing the production of multimedia content, including photos, videos, and graphics, to enhance coverage of athletic events. Additionally, overseeing the athletics website and social media platforms will be a key responsibility, ensuring that content is current, engaging, and accurately reflects the achievements and activities of our student-athletes and teams. Game day operations will also fall under your purview, where you will coordinate all aspects of media coverage and game day operations for home athletic events, including press box management and statistical reporting. Acting as a liaison between the athletics department and various stakeholders, including students, faculty, alumni, and community members, you will promote a positive image of the athletics program. Maintaining accurate records of game statistics, team and individual performances, and historical data for all sports will be essential. You will also supervise at-will assistant(s), as well as student manager(s) and student worker(s) as needed. Additional duties may include assisting department operations and/or teaching a sports studies course, depending on your experiences and strengths.
