About the position

The Assistant Director of Broadcasting at Dartmouth College plays a crucial role in enhancing the visibility and engagement of Dartmouth Athletics through innovative broadcasting and multimedia strategies. This position is responsible for overseeing live broadcasts, coordinating production teams, and ensuring high-quality content that aligns with the department's mission. The role also involves creating strategies to enhance fan experiences and generating revenue through digital assets.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate the production of live broadcasts for Dartmouth Athletics events, ensuring top-tier quality in terms of video, audio, and commentary.
  • Coordinate a team of broadcasters, camera operators, technicians, and support staff to deliver exceptional broadcasts.
  • Maintain and enhance technical capabilities related to broadcasting, including camera equipment and video editing software.
  • Meet with marketing and communications staff to ensure broadcasts showcase teams and grow the Dartmouth Athletics brand.
  • Assist in implementing communication plans to convey Dartmouth Athletics' brand story and values to the target audience.
  • Create strategies to enhance the overall fan experience through digital channels and in-person interactions.
  • Establish effective communication channels to keep fans informed about events and promotions.
  • Leverage digital platforms to engage fans through exclusive content and promotions.
  • Create original content for Dartmouth Athletics website and online streams through post-production video editing projects.
  • Assist with implementing strategies for monetizing digital assets to generate revenue.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in video production or related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a video production environment focused on sports.
  • Proficient with non-linear editing and design software, particularly Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator), Final Cut Pro or similar.
  • Strong familiarity with video cameras and supporting equipment, specifically NewTek Tricaster, 3Play and AJT Livebook Graphics.
  • Excellent creative and organizational skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work effectively with a broad range of staff members and off-campus partners.
  • Ability to identify, analyze and assess technical issues and needs.
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends.
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a video production environment in college athletics.
  • Master's degree in a related field of study.
  • Knowledge of NCAA, Ivy League, and Dartmouth College rules and regulations.
