About the position

The Assistant Director of Corrections and Rehabilitation at the Miami Valley Juvenile Rehabilitation Center plays a crucial role in overseeing the facility's operations in the absence of the Director. This position involves managing staff, ensuring compliance with regulations, and maintaining a positive environment for both employees and youth. The Assistant Director is responsible for human resources management, training, fiscal oversight, community relations, and program operations, all aimed at supporting the rehabilitation of youth in the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Director of Corrections and Rehabilitation in their absence and provide oversight to Program Manager, Program Supervisors, and Juvenile Supervision Specialists.
  • Ensure youth intake and release are conducted efficiently and manage youth intake/release in the absence of the Admission & Release Coordinator.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal requirements, including ODYS, OAC, ACA, and PREA standards.
  • Participate in personnel matters including interviewing, training, employee discipline, supervision, and evaluation of facility staff.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, and onboard candidates for all positions; oversee scheduling to ensure proper workforce.
  • Manage staff training program and ensure training is in compliance with ACA and PREA guidelines.
  • Assist in monitoring budget and maintaining fiscally responsible decision-making.
  • Act as liaison with the public and other youth service agencies; promote and maintain efforts to raise awareness about the program's activities.
  • Maintain and develop policies and procedures in accordance with relevant standards and ensure proper implementation.
  • Provide direct supervision of various staff members and conduct regular meetings.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • CPR Certification and First Aid Certification.
  • Experience in motivational interviewing and senior-level management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in juvenile rehabilitation or corrections management.
  • Knowledge of Ohio Revised Code and American Correctional Association Standards.
