About the position

Portland State University (PSU) is seeking an Assistant Director of CRM Marketing Technology to join its Marketing and Communications team. This position is pivotal in managing and enhancing the university's integrated communication efforts through the use of its Constituent Relations Management (CRM) and Knowledge Base (KB) solutions. The Assistant Director will work closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications to oversee the development, direction, and monitoring of these communication strategies, ensuring they align with the university's mission to serve its diverse student body effectively. In this role, the Assistant Director will be responsible for understanding how university business practices impact student experiences and will work to streamline communication across various units. This includes facilitating the adoption and implementation of CRM/KB solutions and recommending changes to business practices that enhance communication with students, ultimately leading to improved student success. The position also involves supervising a Communications Technologist who will execute email campaigns and support campaign analysis. The Assistant Director will operate in a hybrid work environment, primarily working onsite but with a regular remote work schedule. Adherence to university guidelines for remote work is required, including the completion of a remote work agreement. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proven track record in managing complex projects within an educational setting.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and enhance the university's integrated communication efforts through CRM and KB solutions.
  • Supervise a Communications Technologist responsible for executing email campaigns and analyzing campaign performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 6 years of demonstrated leadership in an educational setting.
  • At least 1 year of full-time experience in admissions, new student programs, registration, or a closely aligned area in higher education.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with student information systems/software, preferably in the Slate CRM.
  • Ability to manage and implement complex projects and handle multiple demands simultaneously.
  • Experience supervising employees, including organizing, training, and evaluating performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with significant autonomy.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree with 3+ years of related experience in higher education administration, student affairs, or communications.
  • 1+ years of supervisory experience.
