About the position

The Assistant Director of Development at Southwest Minnesota State University is responsible for managing and supporting fundraising efforts aimed at increasing donations from various constituent groups. This role involves developing strategies for annual appeals, coordinating outreach efforts through multiple channels, and maintaining relationships with donors. The position also includes leading planning efforts for special fundraising events and ensuring effective communication with alumni and donors.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and support fundraising efforts for annual appeals to all constituent groups.
  • Develop strategies to increase donations over time.
  • Work closely with the Director of Development to strengthen relationships with donors.
  • Coordinate and track solicitations using the alumni and donor database.
  • Create mailing, phone call, and other required contact lists for outreach campaigns.
  • Lead planning efforts for M4L Day and the Southwest Celebration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Two years of recent experience in fundraising, customer database management, direct mail marketing, social media marketing, telemarketing, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Experience with database software for creating contact lists, queries, and reports.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with Raiser's Edge donor database software or similar alumni database management software.
  • Experience with database queries and data management.
