About the position

The Assistant Director of Engineering and Property Operations at Waldorf Astoria Washington DC is responsible for assisting the Director in overseeing the functionality and safety of the hotel facility. This role is crucial in ensuring the well-being of guests and team members while delivering outstanding guest service and maintaining financial profitability. The position involves managing various systems within the hotel, conducting inspections, and leading maintenance and repair efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in directing and overseeing the functionality and safety of the facility, including physical buildings, mechanical equipment, electrical systems, heating and cooling systems, life safety systems, and grounds.
  • Conduct facility inspections and direct general construction and the installation, maintenance, and repair of all electrical, mechanical, and architectural systems throughout the facility.
  • Assign, verify, and document completion of all routine maintenance and repairs in the property maintenance management system.
  • Communicate with city/county/state officials to ensure the proper maintenance of permits and licenses, coordinate required inspections, and ensure full compliance with codes, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Assist in the execution of capital projects and property rehabilitations.
  • Assist in monitoring and developing team member performance, including providing supervision, scheduling, conducting counseling and evaluations, providing professional development, and delivering recognition and reward.
  • Recruit, interview, and train team members.
  • Act in absence of the Director.
  • Lead special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Experience in facility management or engineering within the hospitality industry.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and life safety systems.
  • Ability to conduct inspections and ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Experience in managing maintenance and repair operations.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
