About the position

The Assistant Director of Finance plays a pivotal role in the financial operations of the hotel. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, this individual will oversee various aspects of financial management, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. The Assistant Director of Finance will be responsible for preparing financial reports and analysis for senior management, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement. This includes conducting regular reviews of financial performance against budgets and forecasts, providing insights to support decision-making. In addition to financial analysis and reporting, the Assistant Director of Finance will assist in the development of annual budgets and periodic forecasts, working closely with department heads to ensure alignment with operational goals. Monitoring budgetary performance throughout the year and recommending adjustments as needed to maintain financial targets is also a key responsibility. The role requires implementing and maintaining effective internal controls to safeguard assets, prevent fraud, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Periodic audits of financial processes and transactions will be conducted, addressing any discrepancies or issues promptly. The Assistant Director of Finance will contribute to strategic planning initiatives by providing financial expertise and insights to support long-term growth objectives. This includes evaluating investment opportunities and capital projects, conducting financial analysis and ROI assessments. Managing vendor relationships and contracts, negotiating favorable terms and conditions to optimize cost savings and service quality, and reviewing vendor invoices and payments for accuracy and adherence to contractual agreements are also part of the role. Additionally, the Assistant Director of Finance will provide guidance and training to finance staff, fostering professional development and ensuring adherence to best practices and standards. Staying updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements relevant to financial management in the hospitality sector is essential.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate financial information to stakeholders at all levels.

  • Adaptability to flexible work schedules, including weekends and evenings, to accommodate business needs.

  • Minimum of five years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably within the hotel industry, with demonstrated leadership and managerial capabilities.
